A letter from Edgartown, MA...

Edgartown is Martha's Vineyard's first colonial settlement and it has been the county seat since 1642. But Edgartown might be better known for being the main shooting location for the town of Amity in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster Jaws. Its hard to imagine this island being anything but relaxing, as it was the perfect way to spend the last few days of summer.

Edgartown was an old whaling port and is now a summer and tourist destination with a multitude of houses built by whaling captains and other prominent people of prior centuries. This Lighthouse, which makes the perfect "I", was originally built in 1828. For the first year, the only way to get to the light was by boat, but another $2,500 was allocated to build a foot bridge. The original structure was replaced in 1938 by one that was rafted to the Vineyard from Ipswich, MA. Although the new light was placed on the original site, sand had filled in the area between the island and the mainland, and the current Edgartown Lighthouse now stands on shore.

A new way to frame

Nicole, from the great state of OHIO, is one of alpha26's best customers! So, its no surprise that she came up with a unique way to incorporate the letters into her home.

Printing your family photos in black & white will make them tie nicely in with the alpha26 letters you purchase.

Jessica and Ryan from Columbus, OH recently received an alpha26 monogram as a gift, and chose to display the letter art on their bedroom wall.

A letter from the Bay City and Sonoma wine country

I recently took a trip out west to San Francisco and got a chance to tour every inch of the city, searching for alphabet letters along the way.

The first thing I noticed while walking in the city is that every other home has an iron gate door, and I found a few with the letter “D.”

On the weekend, we drove out to the Sonoma Valley for the annual barrel tasting event. Over 20 wineries participated and featured tastings right out of the barrel. Many owners of the wineries, winemakers were on hand and some of Sonoma County’s local chefs whipped up tasty bits to pair with the wines (which was my favorite part).

At the Chateau St. Jean, I found this “M” along the roof of a building. To visit the winery yourself, check out their website http://www.chateaustjean.com/.

Until next time, alpha26 photography
